The face of noma
What is Noma? Where does Noma occur? Prevention and Treatment What we do Take Action

Thank you for visiting the Secure Our Children Foundation (SOCF) web site. Our foundation exists to raise public awareness about poverty, malnutrition and infections - especially NOMA. NOMA is a vicious inflammatory disease that attacks malnourished immunocompromised children. Noma occurs in many developing countries but particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The good news is that this disease is easily preventable. Your donations help us to educate people about this disease, train health care personnel as well as the general public on the prevention of NOMA. To learn more about SOCF and NOMA, please browse our site using the links above or below.

Africa's children need your help

About 40% of sub-Saharan Africans live on less than $1.00 per day.

Children under the age of 5 years constitute about 20% of the population, yet account for 60% of all deaths.

In parts of sub-Saharan Africa, 36% of the children have moderate or severe malnutrition, 40% have stunted growth, and 9% are wasted.

Hunger and malnutrition deplete the children's natural defenses and thereby allow infections and diseases to thrive.
